Iara Fricke Matte is a Brazilian conductor specialized in orchestral, choral, and choral-symphonic works, with a strong commitment to historically informed performance. Her conducting is noted for its stylistic clarity and rhetorical sensitivity with a repertoire that ranges from Renaissance polyphony to major Romantic and twentieth-century works. Her interests include baroque European and Latin American works, alongside recently rediscovered and unpublished repertoire. 


Ms. Fricke Matte is founder and Artistic Director of the baroque orchestra and chorus Concentus Musicus de Belo Horizonte, and has established a long-standing collaboration with the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra. This collaboration has offered many concerts of major choral-symphonic works at the Sala Minas Gerais, and the recording of the CD Pedro I of Brazil: Te Deum • Credo, released in 2024 to inernational critical acclaim by the classical label Naxos.
